ABS and Nagoya meeting

Please find an invitation from Alistair Griffiths, Director of Science & Collections at the RHS:

“As you may be aware, the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization has been underway since the passing of the EU Regulation last year.

There has been considerable concern about the impacts on horticulture and in particular what it means for the flow of new plant introductions into UK horticulture. There is also a need for horticulture to consider the options to engage with the requirements of the legislation in order to minimise the burden on horticultural businesses. The RHS has organised a day meeting to provide more information on the Protocol and for people to share their views and concerns.

This is taking place on Tuesday 27th July at RHS Garden Wisley, from 1030-1600. While I appreciate that this is short notice, I very much hope you will be able to join us on the day and be a part of deciding how horticulture can respond to the Protocol.

To book your place please email Laura Robins at scienceadmin@rhs.org.uk by Friday 24thJuly.”
