In May 2016, Kew will launch a ground-breaking new report on the State of the World’s Plants, as part of an international science and policy symposium to try to answer these questions:
- Which species are threatened and is their conservation status changing?
- Which invasive species are most problematic? Where is native vegetation disappearing and what are the major drivers of change?
- What policies and management interventions are proving effective? Which plant communities and species show resilience to environmental change?
- What is the status of plant genetic resources?
- Where are the emerging threats to plant health?
The symposium will be based around six themed sessions: Climate Change, Protected Areas, Extinction, Useful Plants, Threats to Plant Health, Invasive Plants and will take place at Kew Gardens on May 11-12, 2016.
