We are offering a new botanical art workshop led by artist Sue Vize SBA at Sheffield Botanical Gardens on 8 February 2018, 10am-4pm. All materials will be included.
A love of plants and a strong desire to record them in detail is the only requirement you need for this workshop. Previous experience is not necessary as Sue will show you how to draw an accurate outline and guide you through the techniques to enable you to apply coloured pencil in a controlled way that is unlike any ‘colouring in’ that you have done before.
The workshop will begin with an informal chat about preferred materials and techniques. Tulips will be the flowers you focus on due to their simple shape and clean lines. The morning will be spent looking closely at their structure and making an outline drawing. Lunch is not provided, but will be available in the cafe. After lunch you will look at the application of colour with lots of one-to-one advice as everyone works at their own pace. By 4pm you will hopefully have enjoyed getting to know your tulip and you will have a lovely detailed drawing to keep long after the flower has faded.
Sue is a full time artist and tutor of Botanical Illustration. Her passion is for drawing and she prefers to work in either graphite pencil or coloured pencil. Find out more on her website: www.suevize.com
